TOWS Matrix Analysis of Interface Inc. - 1133 Words

The TOWS Matrix has been introduced by Heinz Weihhrich in 1982 and therefore analyzes the competitive advantages of a company and lead to the development of different strategies. It is a conceptual framework for systematic analysis that facilitates matching of the external environmental factors (Threats and Opportunities) with the internal ones (Strengths and Weaknesses) of the organization. It is a two- by- two cell approach that assists companies to determine their strategies. By applying this matrix, the company can easily identify how to take advantage of the opportunities it has and at the same time minimize the impact of weaknesses and protect it against threats. The TOWS matrix is a variant of the SWOT analysis, both of these techniques require the primary identification of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. The aim of SWOT analysis is to use strengths and weaknesses to reduce threats and maximize opportunities, while TOWS compares the internal and external factors. When matching strengths with opportunities, it is clear that advantage will be taken of the external opportunities by using the internal strengths. For instance, in the case of Mercedes Benz, with the technical know-how and the quality image (strength), can take advantage of the external demand for luxury cars (opportunity) by an increasingly affluent public (Clarke, 2002). On another hand, when combining weaknesses with opportunities, the aim is to improve internal weaknesses by takingShow MoreRelatedApple Case Study 83899 Words   |  16 PagesContent Page 1.0 Introduction 2.0 External Analysis 3.0 Internal Analysis 4.0 Current ‘Problem’ Diagnosis 5.0 Generation of Strategic Options 6.0 Evaluation of Strategic Options 7.0 Description of Selected Strategy 8.0 Action Plan for Implementation 9.0 Conclusion 10.0 References 11.0 Appendix A 12.0 Appendix B 13.0 Appendix C 14.0 Appendix D 1.0 Introduction Apple Computer Inc was founded by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976. Writing Is A Process That I Have Learned - 936 Words

Writing is a process that I have struggled with throughout my entire life. Last semester in ENGL 1101, I slowly began to understand the writing process. However, I still struggled with developing my essays. One aspect of writing effectively, that I feel I lack, is confidence. Last semester, I was slowly becoming more confident, but as the due date for this semester’s first essay approached, that little confidence seemed to disappear. The structure of the course, however, helped in gaining my confidence back. My first official writing was a biography for the portfolio. This allowed me to introduce myself for my professor. In less than a week, the major writing assignments started. As I finished one essay and began the next, I slowly gained confidence as my teacher encouraged my writing ability. One aspect of the writing process that was extremely helpful for building my confidence was the revision stage. Although personal revisions were helpful, the peer revisions were the most helpful for me. After the final essay, I felt much more confident in my ability to write. I believe I have become a much more effective writer, and through the structure of my portfolio, this will become evident. The first aspect of my portfolio was the revisions of two of the major writing assignments. By going back and reviewing and revising my essays, this allowed me to not only fix some of the major mistakes that I made but also learn from them. SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH. EXAM No. 1 For the past two decades a shifting pattern of diseases and health care service has been observed globally as population increase. Awaken, My Love! by Childish Gambino/Donald Glover free essay sample

After a two year hiatus, Childish Gambino, aka. Donald Glover, released his third studio album entirely composed of singing, switching indie rap for a more funkadelic pop sound. The last time Donald Glover officially released music was in 2014 with the â€Å"Kauai/ STN MTN† double EP, but Dec 2, 2016, brought a new repertoire and sound to the table with the release of Glover’s newest project and third studio album, â€Å"Awaken, My Love!† Admittedly, this has been Glover’s year, characterized by the critical acclaim of his new show â€Å"Atlanta,† its renewal for a second season, and this album’s warm reception from music critics in contrast with former failures such as â€Å"Camp† and â€Å"Because the Internet.† After the release of â€Å"Me and Your Mama† and â€Å"Redbone,† many fans and critics developed general opinions on the sound change, though after the full release, a reconnaissance made the sensual, cosmic sound of the album available. This mirrors Prince’s legendary transition with the â€Å"Purple Rain† album in the 80s, creating a sound that appealed to the eclectic tastes of various demographics amongst his mixed fanbase. The lively electric guitar solos in â€Å"Me and Your Mama† also suffice for the general lack of rapping while collating fans. Glover’s newest project is also undeniably linked to his newest show â€Å"Atlanta.† â€Å"The thesis was: How do we make people feel black? It turned into something more attainable than that, but that was the idea. I was like, ‘Let’s make something that shouldn’t be on the air, something controversial.’ If it’s canceled in 10 episodes, I’ll be happy with those episodes,† Glover said in a conversation about the show’s purpose. This album, rooted in the legacies of black icons such as Sly and the Family Stone, Bootsy Collins, and Prince, musically barraged listeners in a way that created a black experience nonetheless, but also recognizes the general ambiguity on defining blackness. Peeling away the layers of this album garners the same effect as peeling away the parts of someone’s cultural identity, and it is fascinating to say the least. The black of the 70s and 80s was different, in essence, from the black that exists today, and there is a nice fusion of that vibe in the album. The notable successes of â€Å"Awaken, My Love!† are its non-exclusionary properties. No matter the age or race of the listener, there is a record there for them. In a non-conventional aspect, Glover created something truly revolutionary.

The Meaning of Life free essay sample

No one thinks they willhave to question their mortality at seventeen years old.You tend to go about your daily business not thinking about how lucky you are to just be alive and happy. Usually life is too busy to stop and appreciate what you have. There is always something coming up next, something that is due or something to study for. I never thought twice about my life until it was almost taken from me. There are two ways to access my high school:a straight-shot or a twisty, more dangerous route. The dangerous route was the one I needed to take. I always had good driving habits; I never sped or texted behind the wheel. I never questioned driving on that road. Earlier this school year, while I was coming around a particularly tight corner, my right front tire caught the edge of the road causing it to burst. The front corner of my car caught a telephone pole, causing me to flip one and a half times. The bicyclist called the police for me and pulled me from my car. By some miracle Isurvived the accident relatively unscathed. The police officers on the scene all told me I was at no fault for the accident, and that I had done all the right things. I amazed all the medics by walking away from that crash. Their amazement began to make me question why I was okay, and why I was spared in a crash that could have killed me. I understood that not speeding really does save your life, but something else kept bothering me that I couldn’t shake. I began to ask myself, â€Å" Why have I been given this chance?†. After many sleepless nights I decided there was only one reason; I am meant to go make something of myself. I was given a chan ce to appreciate all I have received, and live the best life I can from that day forward. I realized how much I had taken for granted:I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in service projects; I competed on teams where I made lifelong friendships; I attended an award-winning school where I took advantage of every opportunity I could. Most important of all was my amazing support group of family and friends. This event solidified my path. Before that day, college was an expected part of my future.I now understand that college is a privilege and an amazing opportunity. I almost lost the chance to go to college before I got to apply. I’ve learned every day is a blessing, and I must appreciate all that I have. I hope to continue this blessing I’ve been given at JMU, and I’m truly grateful for being given the opportunity to apply to this extraordinary university.
